In the series titled, “Transient Spirits,” I use the 19th Century Tintype process.  Tintype renders beautiful, and uncontrollable characteristics of chance and uncertainty.  In this series, I combined new technology, such as digital negative printing, with the historic Tintype process in order to talk about the relationship between the past and the present.

The concept for this series is based on my childhood memories in combination with my interpretation of ancient Mesoamerican stories, pictography, patterns, and mythologies.

I am interested in deciphering the mythologies and ideologies of the interconnection between biodiversity and humans as viewed by the indigenous Mesoamerican people. Thru the construction of the twenty-two Tintypes, I explored an interconnection with the cosmos, shamanism, time, space, and place.
